House of Farnell is a converted old school tucked away in rural Angus on the road from Montrose to Forfar. If you love the countryside and Christmas then this is the day trip for you.
Probably more a day out for the ladies but you could easily drag the men in your life along with the promise of some warm Danish pastries and a Scandinavian style menu, which is available to peruse on their website before you go.
On entering, if it is quiet you have two choices, both are good – Eat or shop. If you want to eat first go left, if you want to shop first go right. If it is busy you can put your name on the waiting list for the cafe and you can start shopping, you will get called when a table is free.
In the shop there are hundreds of things to choose from that are just that little bit different to what you would find on the high street.
Candles, tree decorations, cushions, textiles and much, much more – It is the perfect place to treat yourself and a wonderful place to get festive gifts for those special people in your life.
Prices start at around £2.95 for smaller tree decorations up to £350 for the more hardcore Christmas fanatics out there. The toy soldier tree ornaments are my favourite, love that little guy!
The staff have always been lovely, the ownership changed a couple of years ago but this hasn’t affected the friendly service. I told the member of staff in the shop about my blog and she kindly gave me permission to take photographs.
What or where gets you in the festive mood? Let me know!
